Terms of Service

GeoChristi is a church discovery and exploration application that helps users discover churches and Christian places, view information, optionally record eligible church visits, and track in-app progress.

GeoChristi is operated by the service provider identified in the Impressum.

These Terms govern your use of GeoChristi. By creating an account or using account-based GeoChristi services after being given access to these Terms, you agree to them. Mandatory rights that apply to you by law remain unaffected.

You are responsible for providing accurate account information and for maintaining the security of your account and sign-in credentials.

You may not use another person’s account without permission or attempt to gain unauthorized access to GeoChristi or another user’s account.

You can permanently delete your GeoChristi account from Profile → Edit Profile → Delete Account.

GeoChristi is intended for users aged 16 and older. You must be at least 16 years old to use GeoChristi. If applicable law where you live requires a higher minimum age, that higher minimum age applies.

Some GeoChristi features use your foreground device location, including showing your position on the map, identifying nearby churches, and verifying eligible church visits.

Recording church visits is optional. General church discovery and map browsing do not require you to maintain an account-linked church visit history.

GeoChristi does not automatically save a church visit merely because you are near a church. Before a visit is stored, the app presents a confirmation step explaining that the visit will be saved privately to your visit history and used for visit-related progress, together with a Privacy link. A visit is stored only when you actively choose Save & Confirm Visit. If you cancel or dismiss the confirmation, that visit is not stored.

Your individual saved church visits and detailed visit history are private to your GeoChristi account and are not displayed publicly or shared with other users. GeoChristi currently displays private aggregate visit statistics within your account, such as churches visited, total visits, and countries visited. These aggregate statistics do not make your individual visit history public.

An account-linked history of visits to churches may, depending on context, reveal or allow inferences about religious beliefs. GeoChristi therefore treats visit-history processing conservatively. Where consent is the applicable legal basis, the visit-confirmation step must request clear, specific consent before the visit is saved; where Article 9 GDPR applies, that consent must be explicit. You can avoid future visit recording by not confirming future visits and may withdraw consent for retained visit-history processing or request erasure through Profile → Privacy → Request Visit History Deletion or the website contact route. GeoChristi verifies that the request comes from the account owner before permanent Visit History Deletion is completed. Further details are described in the Privacy Policy.

A church visit may only be recorded when the location information available to GeoChristi meets the required proximity and accuracy conditions. GPS and device-location information can sometimes be unavailable or inaccurate, so GeoChristi cannot guarantee that every attempted visit will be successfully verified.

Attempts to falsify, manipulate, or spoof location information in order to obtain visits, XP, rewards, or other benefits are not permitted.

Church names, locations, descriptions, images, contact information, denominations, and other information may come from GeoChristi-managed data or third-party sources.

Third-party information may occasionally be incomplete, outdated, inaccurate, or unavailable. GeoChristi should not be relied upon as the sole source for time-sensitive information such as opening hours, accessibility, services, events, directions, or safety-related information.

GeoChristi may provide XP, levels, achievements, visit records, rewards, or other in-app progression features.

These features are part of the GeoChristi experience and do not represent money, legal currency, ownership rights, or a cash balance unless GeoChristi explicitly states otherwise.

Progression rules, reward amounts, and feature availability may evolve as GeoChristi develops. If visit history is deleted, progression derived from that visit history, including directly linked visit XP and related visit-based statistics, is removed or recalculated as necessary. Progress unrelated to church visits remains.

You may not misuse GeoChristi or interfere with the normal operation, security, or integrity of the service.

• attempting unauthorized access to accounts, systems, or data;
• exploiting bugs or technical weaknesses for improper advantage;
• falsifying or spoofing location or church visits;
• attempting to manipulate XP, rewards, progression, or other account data;
• using automated methods to overload, scrape, disrupt, or abuse the service where not authorized; or
• using GeoChristi for unlawful purposes.

GeoChristi relies on third-party services and data providers for parts of the app, including authentication, map resources, church data, images, and external links.

Third-party services and content are subject to their own terms, privacy practices, availability, and licenses.

GeoChristi is under active development. Features may be added, changed, improved, temporarily unavailable, or discontinued as the service develops.

We aim to provide a reliable experience, but uninterrupted or error-free availability cannot be guaranteed.

GeoChristi may restrict or suspend access when reasonably necessary to protect users, the service, security, legal obligations, or to address serious or repeated violations of these Terms.

Any action taken under this section remains subject to applicable law and mandatory user rights.

The GeoChristi name, branding, logo, original interface design, and original GeoChristi content are protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

Third-party data, images, maps, trademarks, and other materials remain subject to their respective ownership and license terms.

GeoChristi provides discovery, informational, and progress-tracking features. Information available through the app may not always be complete, current, or error-free, particularly where it comes from third-party or community-maintained sources.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability where such exclusion or limitation is not permitted by applicable law. In particular, mandatory liability for intent, gross negligence, injury to life, body, or health, guarantees, and applicable product-liability law remains unaffected.

For losses caused by slight negligence, liability is limited, where legally permitted, to breaches of essential contractual duties and to the typical, reasonably foreseeable damage resulting from such a breach. Mandatory consumer rights remain unaffected.

GeoChristi is not responsible for failures or inaccuracies caused solely by third-party data, third-party services, external websites, device limitations, or circumstances outside GeoChristi’s reasonable control, except where applicable law provides otherwise.

Your use of GeoChristi is also subject to GeoChristi’s privacy information.

These Terms may be updated as GeoChristi and its features develop or when legal or operational requirements change.

Material changes affecting existing users will be communicated by reasonable means where appropriate. Where applicable law requires renewed consent or acceptance, GeoChristi will request it before the relevant change takes effect for that user. The latest version of these Terms will show its most recent update date.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany to the extent that this choice of law is permitted.

If you are a consumer who is habitually resident in another country, this choice does not deprive you of mandatory consumer protections that apply under the law of your country of residence. Statutory rules on jurisdiction remain unaffected.
